Guess what we bought a day before new year’s eve — a videoke set! I know some of you will find it weird for a person to buy one big videoke set especially if it will not be placed for rent (hmmn, maybe i can consider this idea LOL).  But we got tired of renting a videoke machine every time there’s an occasion being held at our place. So this time, our new year celebration will be different.  We now have our own machine.  Time is very limited previously when we were just renting out.  But now, we can use one even if there’s no occasion.

Our family really loves singing.  Some of my cousins are very good singers. In fact, they have won several singing contests already.  Unfortunately, I was not around when the “talent for singing” was being distributed.  In short, I cannot sing.  I may have the voice, but a very unpleasant voice.

You can find videoke sets in a place called Raon (I am not sure if I spelled it correctly).   The videoke set costs around Php 20,000.00 depending on the parts that you want to include in the assembly.   So it may be more than or less than the said price.  Our videoke set consists of 4 speakers, 4 tweeters, an amplifier, a dvd player and comes with a 29″ television.  Freebies include 11,000 songs and a microphone.  You can update your songs by buying a new cd which costs around Php400.00.   They release updates every three months.

We already have a magic sing but we were not satisfied by it because of the limited number of songs.  And if you want to get the new songs, you have to buy their chip which costs around Php3,000 and contains more or less 500 songs only.  Imagine how expensive it will be if you buy new chips every time you want to sing the new songs.  Magic sing is nice for travel purposes but at home, I prefer the videoke set that we recently bought since you have plenty of songs to choose from.

I hope now that we have our own videoke set, I will be able to practice my voice so that I can sing like Regine Velasquez or Sarah Geronimo.  I know that this dream of mine is impossible to come true — very impossible as like giving the moon and stars to your loved one.  But at least now I can tell the world that, “Hey, at least I tried….”
