Valentines day is fast approaching and everyone is looking forward to that special day specially those with partners. But the case for me is different. I am very much brokenhearted right now. Do you want to know why?


My favorite shih tzu “Sphinx” is very ill right now. I am very crushed whenever I see his condition. He has a spine injury and could not stand on his own. I don’t know how he got the spinal trauma. He can still move his legs and can walk a few steps but you have to stand him up first. He cannot pee and poo regularly as he cannot stand on his own.


I brought him to Dr. Peralta and have his x-ray taken. It’s good that his hips are aligned, it’s just really the spine. According to my vet, he can still recover from this trauma but for how long — we don’t know. He is getting two shots of nabudone and is taking rimadyl for five days. He is also taking cefalexin for seven days for his sore throat.


I think he is slowly recovering from this trauma since he already urinated yesterday and today. He also ate a little of his food already although I admit it must be because of the “other” food I mixed in his food. I don’t usually give canned foods to my dogs but right now I have no choice but to mix a little just to make him eat. His voice is also slowly returning to normal. This is also a good sign for me.


I am hoping that he will get soon because I am getting very worried about him. He is under my personal care as I want to make sure that he will get his proper medications. I will post an update on his condition soon.
