It’s already been 13 days since my shih tzu, Sphinx, got a spinal injury. It’s a good thing that he is showing some progress. He still cannot stand on his own but at least he can make a few steps already if you help him stand up. He is also starting to gain his appetite back.

He pooped this past two days and I thought his schedule is now going back to normal. Unfortunately, he didn’t pooped today. He is having a hard time doing it since he cannot stand long enough to relieve himself. I tried assisting him but he didn’t want to do it if I am holding him up. He is on diaper everyday so that his coat will not be soaked or get wet when he urinates.

I bought him a rubber puzzle mat and scattered it in our room because our wooden floor is still slippery for him. It did help him. I can see his effort trying to stand up and walk every night in my room. He managed to walk around our room in circles although most of the time he is dragging his hind legs with him. He is also going back to his old self, that is, crying at night if he is not by my side. He is trying to manipulate me again because he knows that I can’t stand to hear him crying.
